For the first followers of Jesus, Easter was not merely a day on the calendar to celebrate and check off. Much more than a day in life, Easter became their way of life! For them, everything had fallen apart on Friday. They thought they would never see Jesus again. But on Easter Sunday they realized that their Risen Lord was alive and they could see him! Over the next few weeks the first followers of Jesus encountered him time and again. And even after his ascension to heaven, they began living each day with an Easter lens, looking for the Risen Christ in everyday life. As we consider these “Jesus Sightings,” we will be able to experience Jesus afresh and know the power of the ancient Easter greeting – HE IS RISEN INDEED!
