Mission of the Month

Recently a single mom with a grade school aged child reached out for assistance. She had recently had a head injury and had to miss work, resulting in a significantly lower paycheck, and she then got behind on her rent and was given an eviction notice. She had also lost her car, and fortunately just found a job within walking distance from her apartment. However, she would not get paid enough to cover the rent before being evicted. Coppell Cares was able to work with her to get her caught up on her rent so that her and her daughter would not be evicted, and provide a list of resources for her for her other needs.

Meals you packaged are headed to Burundi!
Located in the Rift Valley in East Africa, Burundi faces poverty and high levels of food insecurity. Since the country gained independence, internal conflict has impacted agricultural production, an important source of livelihood for many. Refugees and returning displaced Burundians depend on food assistance, yet available resources have become scarce. The Global Hunger Index, which assesses food insecurity based on indicators that measure undernourishment and undernutrition, estimates that Burundi has an “alarming” level of hunger.
