Event Details

Did you know that the number of homeless in the Metrocrest area (Coppell, Carrollton, Farmers Branch and Addison) has more than doubled in the last two years? Do you want to understand more?

The Metroplex Homeless Alliance is an alliance that kicked off in April of this year and is made up of community leaders, including police, fire and EMS, and a few churches. it was formed to discuss what homelessness looks like in the Metrocrest area and what we, as a community, see as strategies to effectively respond. The group is in the process of identifying community expectation – with follow-up meetings to include homeless response organizations and volunteers/advocates to focus on the “how” and the “what.”

Our mission ministry for this month is the Partnership in Honduras. For more than 20 years, the United Methodist Church has had a growing presence in Honduras. Today, the Mission there consists of 27 congregations and numerous United Methodist-affiliated organizations. Our support for this mission will assist them in continuing their work of developing activities to achieve growth in discipleship.

Please plan on joining us on October 16th at 10:15 am in Wesley Hall to hear this presentation from Melanie Meijering with Metrocrest Social Services.
