June’s mission of the month is Christian Community Action (CCA) Back to School Initiative.
We are asking for a financial donation for back to school clothes. CCA is getting a very special rate on Old Navy gift cards so they are asking for money to buy the discounted gift cards. Then they will open the Flower Mound store to let the kids shop, try on and “buy” cute fashionable clothes with those cards.
This year families will be served in the following schools: Lewisville ISD, Coppell ISD, Carrollton/Farmers Branch ISD (Denton County portion), Argyle ISD, Frisco ISD (Denton County portion), Lake Dallas ISD, Little Elm ISD, Northwest ISD (Denton County portion).
The program costs $100 per student and CCA’s goal is to serve 1,200 students this fall. Help make this mission possible so that no child goes to school and not have the tools needed for a successful learning year! Click here to give online and select Mission of the Month for the fund, make checks payable to FUMC with memo “CCA” or you can TEXT 2 GIVE. Text FUMCC to 73256. You will receive a link and simply follow the instructions.)

Event Details
The goal of the Coppell Cares Weekend Backpack Program is to help eliminate food insecurity for the children who attend CISD schools. This program, under the Coppell Cares umbrella, provides nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack items to eligible CISD children (and siblings) to feed these children over the weekend during the school year when they are not receiving meals at school. We WILL need help assembling/packing the weekend backpack items this year as Kids in Mission may not be meeting regularly at the start of the school year. Adult volunteers deliver bins of the bags to each participating CISD school who distribute the bag to each child to take home on Fridays. Signup Genius links will be provided when we know more about this fall’s school schedule and model.
Approximately $15,000 is needed to enable this program for the 2022-2023 school year. Thank you for your support in helping to achieve our goal of eliminating food insecurity. Make checks payable to FUMC with memo “WBPK” or you can TEXT 2 GIVE. Text to 73256 with subject line as FUMCC. You will receive a link and simply follow the instructions.
