Becoming a Member
Why become a member of a church?
Joining First United Methodist Church in Coppell gives you an opportunity to strengthen your relationship with...
V God
V Self
V Others
...and unite with others in this congregation as we...
- Deepen our understanding of Christ
- Experience the grace of God
- Claim and share our gifts and talents
- Serve to make a difference in the lives of others
- Belong to a community of faith
- Broaden our friendships.
Membership in The United Methodist Church is open to all who profess belief in God through Jesus Christ.
You may become a member by any one of three ways:
- Transfer of Membership
You may request that your membership be transferred to this congregation from any other United Methodist Church.
- Membership Vows
If you are a member of another Christian denomination you may respond affirmatively to the following membership vow: “Will you be loyal to The United Methodist Church and support this congregation by your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?”
- Baptism and Profession of Faith
Baptism recognizes God’s love and acceptance of you as God’s own child. If you have been baptized in any other Christian denomination, that baptism is recognized and affirmed The United Methodist Church.
Profession of Christian Faith: If you have never been confirmed or joined a Christian Church, then you are invited to profess your Christian faith.
A six week study series, “Understanding United Methodism”, is offered at least twice a year to those new to the United Methodist Church or for those who would like to gain a better understanding of the history, beliefs, and structure of the Church.
For more information about joining you may call Rev. Ashleigh Joyner at 972-462-0471, ext. 214 or email at: ajoyner@fumccoppell.org .
