Our Adult Study Groups at FUMC Coppell offer participants opportunities for adults to grow in faith and discipleship - growing closer to God and others in the shared experience of prayer, study, reflection and small-group discussion. 

  • Please register for groups as soon as possible to help insure that studies will make, and so we can order books and plan for room set-up.
  • Studies may be canceled due to low registration.
  • Childcare is offered for most study groups, with 48 hour advance reservations – 972-462-0471, ext. 226

  • Pastor’s Study Group
    This ongoing group meets to share joys and concerns, read and reflect on our faith, and grow in grace together. 

*This is a popular book which we will read and discuss in light of our Wesleyan theological process and perspective.

  • What It Means to be United Methodist
    3-week story for persons who are new to the United Methodist Church or those who need a refresher course. Learn about basics of the United Methodist Church - history, theology, structure and social principles.

  • NEW! The Way of Forgiveness
    8-week study that encourages persons to live a forgiven and forgiving life in response to Christ’s call. This Companions in Christ study will help participant’s grow in the heart of mind of Christ through prayer, journaling, sharing and attention to Scripture.

  • 10:17 Men’s Bible Study
    Join other men for this ongoing Bible study group. Based on Romans 10:17  “So faith comes by what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.” This group is working in the New Testament Letters currently.

  • Hungry for the Word
    A small group of people who are reading the Bible, including the Apocrypha, from beginning to end in 3 years. The group is now in the second year and working on the prophets. This January, the group will be looking at Jeremiah and moving into Lamentations in February. Join us anytime for fellowship and great discussion.

  • Monday Morning Men's Bible Study
    Sponsored by United Methodist Men, this ongoing men’s group meets weekly for a light breakfast, Bible study and fellowship.

  • Women’s Reading Group
    This group gathers weekly in the Library for prayer, fellowship and discussion on the readings together. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch/drink.

A Mile in Her Shoes: Lessons From the Lives of Old Testament Women

  • The Story of Christianity
    This small group meets in the library to study about the history and doctrines of the Christian Faith. The group is open to new members joining at any time.

Divorce and Grief Support Groups/Workshops
These workshops are offered in conjunction with the

  • Divorce Recovery
    A 7 week workshop/support group for persons experiencing the pain of divorce - to understand divorce process, plan for recovery and future decisions, and find support from others.

  • Grief and Healing
    A 7 week workshop/support group for persons who have experienced the painful death of a loved one - to work through the grief process, grow through the loss, and find support from others.

  • NEW! Knitting: Sticks and String: Beginning Knitting
    A beginning 6-week knitting class with a short Bible study built-in. It demonstrates that much of what we do is really a do-over and that every mistake is actually an opportunity to learn. We will learn to do the only two stitches that matter in knitting: the knit and the purl. As we learn together, we will look at fiber work in the Bible and the possibilities of creativity and hopefully form new friendships.

  • In the Prayer Garden: Mornings Apart
    Are you tired? Worn out? Do you need a morning just to be still and know that God is God? Group will gather together in the Biggerstaff Prayer Garden for community prayer, silence and solitude for rest and renewal.

  • Yoga
    Uniting mind, body, and soul, yoga is an effective way to relieve stress and to build strength, stamina, and balance. Suitable for beginners or those with yoga experience. An easy to moderate physical workout that incorporates Christian worship, prayer, and quiet time. Yoga mats and props will be available for purchase or you may bring your own. Signed waver form required.

  • Women’s Retreat
    Join other women for fun and fellowship, and to relax, rest and renew in a beautiful setting overlooking Lake Texoma. We will begin with dinner Friday and end after worship Sunday morning.
